It’s a case of out with the old and in with the brand-spanking-new at St. Tammany Health System’s award-winning Paul D. Cordes Outpatient Pavilion.
Starting Monday (June 12), the Outpatient Pavilion will be without MRI capabilities for 90 days as it begins an MRI replacement project.
During that time, patients in need of an MRI will be scheduled at the health system’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington or its Women’s Pavilion on U.S. 190, just north of Interstate 12, both of which have full-service MRI capabilities.
Limited afterhours and weekend appointments will be offered to ensure timely delivery of service.
The leading-edge new unit being installed at the Outpatient Pavilion was designed with performance and patient comfort in mind. In addition to providing more precise results with shorter scan times, the new machine will feature a large “bore,” the opening in which patients are situated during a scan.
The new MRI suite will also include a soothing “skylight” feature.
The new machine is expected to be in operation by early to mid-September.
