The Louisiana Society for Respiratory Care has named St. Tammany Health System 2023 Hospital of the Year for Respiratory Care among hospitals with more than 200 beds.
STHS’s respiratory team has won the award multiple times previously, most recently in 2020 and 2022.
The honor, announced on April 19 at LSRC’s annual conference in Baton Rouge, recognizes the health system’s respiratory team for demonstrating and meeting criteria “related to enhancing and promoting the Profession of Respiratory Care along with providing quality patient care and having achieved successful outcomes within their facility and community,” according to a letter sent from society leadership to STHS President and CEO Joan Coffman.
Present to accept the award on the health system’s behalf were STHS Respiratory Services Clinical Coordinator Stacy Brito, AVP of Critical Care Teresa Krutzfeldt, Director of Respiratory Services Brett Stafford and Registered Respiratory Therapist Cheraine Agoff.
The LSRC letter continued: “In reviewing the application following the selection process, some of the outstanding qualities of your hospitals Respiratory Care Department were your quantity of patient services offered, the variety of skill sets held by your therapist, and your commitment to Respiratory Care in your community.”
The STHS respiratory care team provides acute care therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation and sleep disorders support. Respiratory services and other STPH clinical disciplines participate in shared governance, involving team decision-making, diverse creative input and advancing St. Tammany Health System’s healthcare mission.
