It’s official: Terri Johnston is great.
The 16-year St. Tammany Health System veteran, a registered nurse currently serving as director of the health system’s Education Department, has been named one of the Great 100 Nurses of Louisiana for 2023.
Johnson, who was nominated unanimously by the Education team, was specifically honored for her mentorship over the years, her continued leadership, and for providing council and direction to countless STHS colleagues.
“The thing that stands out to me the most is her unwavering support of all the nurses during COVID,” read her nomination. “She brought us treats, wrote and sent us notes of support and encouragement, and sent snacks. She texted us and asked how we were handling things. She was also checking on the physicians. She was truly a pillar for so many of us and continues to help and grow so many of us that seek out guidance.”
Terri and other Great 100 Nurses for 2023 will be celebrated Oct. 11 with a banquet at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.
The Great 100 Nurses Foundation was started in 1986 in New Orleans to recognize exceptional registered nurses for their concern of humanity, their significant contribution to the profession of nursing and the mentoring of others.
It has since expanded and has over the years honored thousands of nurses across Louisiana, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Texas and Arkansas.
Terri is the latest in a string of STHS nurses to receive the Great 100 honor. Most recently, Bethany Monistere was named to the list last year and Arlyn Arseneaux earned the honor for 2019.
