Dr. Victoria Blossman, a primary care physician specializing in family medicine, has joined the medical staff at the St. Tammany Physicians Network clinic in Folsom.
A Mandeville native and Mandeville High School graduate, Dr. Blossman earned her undergraduate degree at LSU and her medical degree at William Carey College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
She joins the STPN-Folsom team following a residency with LSU School of Medicine’s Rural Family Medicine Program in Bogalusa.
“I’m passionate about the rural community, and I’ve grown to love it even more as I’ve worked in Bogalusa,” she said. “When I went out to visit the clinic in Folsom, I knew it was where I needed to be.”
Although she’ll practice general medicine, including performing minor, in-office procedures, Dr. Blossman has a particular interest in preventative medicine and management of chronic conditions, such as obesity, diabetes and hypertension.
Those interests were bolstered by the connections she’s formed with her patients during her Family Medicine residency.
“In Bogalusa, there are limited resources, and because of that I’ve developed a real relationship with my patients,” she said. “Those personal relationships are what’s kept me going.”
That sense of community is also a big part of what made her want to set up shop in St. Tammany Parish, where she grew up.
Additionally, her personal experiences at St. Tammany Health System’s Covington hospital convinced her that it was the right organization for her as she grows her practice.
“I recently had a family member who was cared for here,” she said. “The compassion the nurses and doctors showed here solidified things for me.”
Dr. Blossman joins a growing care team at the Folsom clinic that includes Dr. Chris Foret, Dr. Robert Brinkman, and nurse practitioners Laura Read, Patrick Wainwright and Taylor Brooks.
