St. Tammany Health System leadership is celebrating its Talent Acquisition team this month after it met and exceeded a departmental challenge to recruit and hire 31 nurses in the 31 days of March.

By the time the calendar changed to April, the five-person team – Talent Acquisition Manager Elisa Rosales and Talent Acquisition Partners Hedda Lacoste, Blake Luna, Jennifer Saint and Ashley Sierra – had hired 50.

“I can’t really say enough about this small-but-mighty Talent Acquisition team,” Rosales said. “We haven’t even been together as a team that long – just since January, really – but everyone rallied around the challenge and knocked this one out of the park.”

The feat is especially noteworthy given the national employment shortage triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the healthcare sector, said St. Tammany Health System President and CEO Joan Coffman, FACHE.

“We’ve long been the healthcare employer of choice on the Northshore, and even in the face of the employment challenges we’ve seen nationwide, our HR team simply put their heads together, got to work and crushed their goals,” Coffman said. “That’s the St. Tammany way.”

Christopher Ford, the health system’s senior vice president of Human Resources, added: “We talk a lot about our ‘Culture of Caring’ here at St. Tammany Health System, but there’s a culture of teamwork here, too, and our HR colleagues are prime examples of that. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

St. Tammany Health System, founded in 1954 as St. Tammany Parish Hospital, employs nearly 2,700 people at more than two dozen sites, making it the second-largest employer in St. Tammany Parish.

In addition to competitive salaries at every level of the health system, it offers its colleagues a full suite of benefits as well as learning opportunities for those considering for a career in healthcare and scholarship opportunities for healthcare veterans.

In September, the health system was named one of New Orleans CityBusiness’ Best Places to Work for 2022.
