Weight Loss/Ideal Protein

The science of weight loss

Reset your mind and body with the Ideal Protein protocol

Ideal Protein

The Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method is a comprehensive, medically designed weight management protocol that promotes weight loss while sparing muscle mass. It is a three-phase method that focuses not only on weight loss but also on creating sustainable lifestyle changes to help you maintain your weight loss and new healthy life.

Participants in St. Tammany Health System’s Ideal Protein program, which operates under the supervision of our Northlake Surgical Associates clinic in Covington, will meet weekly one-on-one with our registered dietitian/Ideal Protein coach, who will help motivate, guide and educate you through your weight-loss journey.

Included in the program are high-quality, great-tasting foods – breakfast, lunch and snacks, plus carefully calibrated vitamins and minerals – all specially chosen to assist not just in weight loss but in the management of a number of chronic conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and gastric reflux.

Phase 1: Weight loss

Phase 1: Weight loss

In Phase 1, you’ll reset your body to burn fat by restricting carbohydrates, thus optimizing fat loss through ketosis, a safe and natural state in which the body mobilizes stored fat as its alternative energy source. You’ll remain in Phase 1 until you’ve reached your weight-loss goal.

Phase 2: Stabilization

Phase 2: Stabilization

In Phase 2, you’ll reset your mind to maintain a healthy weight and build healthy habits. With the help of a nutrition coach, you’ll slowly reintroduce carbs and healthy fats. You’ll also receive a Macro Code, tailored specifically to you, based on the number of macronutrients you need to maintain your new, healthy weight.

Phase 3: Maintenance

Phase 3: Maintenance

In Phase 3, you’ll continue receiving education and support from your coach and clinic for 12 months following the stabilization phase (above). That includes support and guidance on food choices, as well as new strategies regarding nutrition, healthy eating patterns, behavior change and environment.

Why Ideal Protein?

Being overweight isn’t your fault. It’s a health issue caused by the North American diet that can lead to serious, chronic medical conditions. The Ideal Protein protocol starts with losing self blame and loving yourself as you are. That’s where the science takes over.
