Diabetes Education

YOU’RE NOT IN THIS ALONE.

With STHS’s Diabetes Education experts in your corner, you’ve got the tools you need to stay ahead of your condition.

Diabetes Education

Diabetes can be challenging, whether you’re newly diagnosed or you or a loved one has been living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes for a while. But you don’t have to go it alone.

St. Tammany Health System’s Diabetes Education program provides the resources and the support you need not just to manage your diabetes but to thrive in the process.

That includes help from our certified diabetes care and education specialists to develop a customized treatment plan for you, as well as education on proper diabetes management for patients and family members. (With a physician’s referral, we offer individual appointments and group classes to provide cost-effective, high quality self-management training.)

It also includes our gestational diabetes program, which provides one to two individual sessions with a diabetes educator / registered dietitian, an initial assessment session and a follow-up session. (You may contact the diabetes education program manager at 985-871-5983 for more information.)

Not only has the STHS Diabetes Education program been recognized by the American Diabetes Association as a provider of diabetes self-management education in accordance with national standards for quality diabetes patient education, but most insurance companies, including Medicare, provide coverage for it.

Our services include diabetes education for individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, women with pre-existing diabetes during pregnancy and women diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

So wherever you are with this disease, know that you have options – not to mention tools, resources and support. Contact us today to begin living your best life.

To schedule an appointment or for more information, call the St. Tammany Health System Diabetes Education Department at 985-871-5983.
