Friends and Family Text Messaging System

Friends and Family Text Messaging System

Put your loved one’s status at your fingertips.

You know the saying: Knowledge is power. But at St. Tammany Health System, we recognize it can be a great comfort, too – especially if you have a loved one preparing to undergo an inpatient hospital procedure.

With our Friends and Family Text Messaging System, you can have quick, simple updates on your loved one’s status delivered right to your cell phone.

Here’s how it works: During a patient’s stay, they can register the cell phone numbers of those who they would like to receive updates on their condition.

Friends and Family Text Messaging System

Once a number is registered, it will receive such messages as:

“The patient is resting comfortably after a procedure.”

“The patient’s vital signs are within normal limits.”

“The patient has been transferred to a new room.”

It’s important to note that this is a one-way service, so it’s not possible to reply to a message to contact a doctor or nurse. Also, to safeguard privacy concerns, messages are encrypted and sent only by authorized hospital staff who have received specialized training.

If you’d like to know more about our friends-and-family texting service, simply ask the nurse involved with your care.
