Luckily for you, St. Tammany Health System operates two fully staffed and accredited emergency rooms around the clock and 365 days a year.

Our Covington Emergency Department, part of St. Tammany Parish Hospital, is an accredited chest pain center and level 3 trauma center that has earned the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers.

It also includes the region’s only dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department, which has been designated a Certified Autism Center by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards -- to make sure all of our patients feel safe and comfortable -- and boasts its own kid-friendly waiting room, child-sized treatment rooms and dedicated physicians and nursing staff.

Then there’s our Mandeville Emergency Department, a full-service, free-standing facility across the street from the Mandeville Post Office on U.S. 190 that expands the reach of our board-certified emergency medicine specialists – while shortening the drive for those living in the neighborhood.

Like our Covington facility, our Mandeville ED staff is trained to treat emergent health situations including heart attack and stroke, and with access to Ochsner vascular neurologists via TeleStroke.

St. Tammany Parish Hospital Emergency Department — STPH Emergency Department

When it comes to emergency medicine, our original location stands above the rest. Established in 1954, it has grown repeatedly over the decades, and not only in size but in the litany of recognitions it has received, including as the region’s only Level 3 trauma center and for its heart and stroke care.

Mandeville Emergency Department

Providing full-service emergency even closer to home for patients living south of Covington, our standalone Mandeville ED – across the street from the post office – is staffed by St. Tammany Health System employees, including the same board-certified emergency medicine specialists serving our main hospital ED.

We’re proud to offer our youngest patients access to a pediatric-specific emergency department. From the child-friendly waiting area to the dedicated physicians and nursing staff, child-size treatment rooms, equipment and nurses’ station, our pediatric ED – designated a Certified Autism Center by the IBCCES – is here to provide world-class care for your family.
