Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab

Get moving again.

Our Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab programs both share the same goal: to help you live your best life.

Heart and lung disease are life-changing diagnoses for many patients, but St. Tammany Health System’s Cardiac Rehab and Pulmonary Rehab programs – both located at our Paul D. Cordes Outpatient Pavilion in Covington – specializes in giving patients the tools they need to maximize their quality of life.

Both multi-phased programs are nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and both focus first on getting patients back on their feet. That’s followed by a blend of education and exercise in our on-site facility and, if necessary, enrollment in our Living Tobacco Free smoking cessation program. While the methods differ, both programs have the same end goal: to give patients the tools, knowledge and confidence they need to once again lead healthy, independent lives.

Cardiac Rehab

Cardiac Rehab

St. Tammany Health System’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is comprised of individualized prescriptive exercise, education and counseling for patients with heart disease. As part of our multi-phased approach – which incorporates exercise and education – our highly trained staff of cardiovascular specialists work with participants to improve heart health through exercises that increase aerobic capacity, muscle strength and flexibility. The benefits are numerous, among them:

  • Improved exercise tolerance
  • Eased symptoms
  • Improved blood lipids
  • Reduced stress
  • Reduced mortality rates

    Pulmonary Rehab

    Pulmonary Rehab

Nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, St. Tammany Health System’s multiphase Pulmonary Rehab Program is instrumental in improving a patient's quality of life and reducing the overall number of hospital visits for patients living with pulmonary-related disease.

In addition to offering resources for self-management of pulmonary disease, our staff of registered respiratory therapists and master-prepared clinical exercise physiologist provides a comprehensive, individualized, low-level exercise program in a professionally staffed, medical facility. To discover if Pulmonary Rehab can help you, ask your physician for a referral to the Pulmonary Rehab Program at St. Tammany Health System.
